This group, open source ecology, is effective on many open source technologies. I would suggest going to their site openfarmtech(dot)com and if you like what OSE is doing, become a TRUE FAN , which means a donation of $10 a month for 2 being. They are at a 100 right fans right now but their goal is a 1000. The sooner we can get these open source tools and technologies off the ground, the sooner we can ALL start living sustainable, truly free lives… !

It’s on a spool roll on the right side of this video. He touches it with the very hot soldering iron and the solder melts on the tip. I prefer to brace everything and just control the solder feed and the iron. This is very simple, I’ve was a Bench Tech for many being.

Everyone’s discussion about the solar deal that’s going on @ Solar-Deals(.)com. 3 x 6 Evergreen Solar Cells for $0.70 per watt. Starting at $149.99! It’s better then on ebay and cheaper!

The special deal is limited and only 30 days left! Just thought, I’d let you know.

tabbing wire already has solder on it,flux pen is flux to help spread the solder when heated

pakau September 8, 2010 at 5:13 am

have u seen the new NANOSOLAR film cells
chek it out

need another video showing everywhere his solder comes from? I have not yet tried his method. I would but how do you dip into solder?

taraff1 September 8, 2010 at 6:42 am

I built my own Solar Panels for UNDER $100 which currently power my 1700 Square Foot home, using the plans at:

I plot on buying a soldering gun, which is the best type and how much Watts do I need.. is a 50w excellent enough

SolarXpert September 8, 2010 at 7:26 am

I just got my 5″ monocrystalline solar cells at Solar-Deals(.)com for a fantastic fee! I’m going to use these for my DIY solar panel.

industrialhemprocks September 8, 2010 at 7:48 am

Restoring industrial hemp to its rightful place in agriculture today will return much control to our farmers, and away from the multinational corporations that dominate our political process and ruin our environment. These hub-intensive, non-sustainable industries have usurped our economic resources and clear-cut huge tracts of the world’s forests, given us massive oil spills, wars, toxic waste, massive worldwide pollution, global warming and the destruction of entire ecosystems.

almanda800 September 8, 2010 at 8:29 am

Hi there, I believe that the video and the explanations are OK, what really worries me is the heat produced by the soldering iron which may ruin the cells. Usually is reccomended to
help oneself with slowing down the temperature immediately after this soldering job.

shortysmagic September 8, 2010 at 9:12 am

is there conclusion video? everywhere it sais heres how you assemble them and do all the wiring and everything?

allymetoo September 8, 2010 at 9:16 am

No Tommy , I don’t reckon so. AFAIK this is still under Development.

Considering the fiscal Crisis, it also might be that some Huge Lobby Group will just sandbox this for various reasons.

Let’s see. I’d really like to see this coming soon.

tommytowne September 8, 2010 at 9:37 am

everywhere else in so cal can I buy cells from? Nano solar is out of them or a touch.

tommytowne September 8, 2010 at 10:06 am

Nano Solar is a place to hold the tiles? Their web site is pretty much saying they have none for sale. Is there another resource? i really want to buy some and build a few panels.

izzzzzz6 September 8, 2010 at 10:26 am

Try feeding the solder onto the iron whilst you are soldering, that way you can keep it flowing and not waste so much time, perhaps the heat will hurt the cells but it will be a better technique for tinning the wires.

SolarXpert September 8, 2010 at 11:20 am

50% off entire store. Limited time offer. Limited solar cells. 5″ solar cells 2 watt @ $1.20/watt. Offer ends June 7th, 2009.

alpican September 8, 2010 at 11:23 am

OMG what are you doing there? The (maybe) only speciality of these tabbing wires are their being already-solder carrying. So, u removed the solder from them in the previous video and now you are again soldering them :)
Really I reckon that you couldn’t solder the tabbing wires on the panels, so you tried this way. But, I know your soldering iron which is very very cheap and never let you work on suc a solar cell. Try using a better one, so you will never waste your time.

allymetoo September 8, 2010 at 11:25 am

The Cells are made from Silicon ( Main Make pleased of common Sand )
You can not make them by yourself.
Check out the next Gen cells from Nano Solar Inc. ( in Palo Alto )
Made from : Copper (Cu) indium (In) Gallium (Ga) Sulphur (S) Selenium at about 1/10th of the Cost of the previous Generation.
If this gets off the Ground, every single Residential Unit in the US and Europe can go Solar.
